Eurocup: Martins rushes towards the title, ART champion

Caio Collet (R-Ace GP) is definitely unlucky at the end of the season. Forced to retire last week after being sent into the background by David Vidales (JD Motorsport) in difficulty with his car, the Brazilian experienced a similar fate this Sunday at Hockenheim.

The pilot of the Renault Sport Academy, which started 9th due to a clutch problem, was this time the victim of a mechanical problem when it had moved up to 4th position. A situation which obviously benefits Frenchman Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix), 2nd behind pole sitter Lorenzo Colombo (Bhaitech), who won his first race of the season.

By regaining eighteen points from Collet, Martins now has a forty-four lead, with only fifty left to distribute. Unless the situation changes, the Habs will be crowned champions next weekend at Le Castellet, during the last round of the season.

On the other hand, his ART Grand Prix team will not have to wait for the Var round to pop the champagne. The Burgundian team, which was making its comeback in the category, is guaranteed to win the teams classification.

Note that another Renault driver was unhappy on Sunday. This is Hadrien David (MP Motorsport). The French F4 champion was also forced to retire while he was also 4th and attacked Paul Aron for a place on the podium.

Under the threat of David Vidales (JD Motorsport) and Alex Quinn (Arden) for 3rd place in the championship, Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) regained his distance by signing a seventh podium this season. The Briton Quinn, 4th, snatches 4th place in the championship from David Vidales.
