F3 Asia: Chovet wins and breaks the championship

Pierre-Louis Chovet (Pinnacle Motorsport) continues to string together victories and points in F3 Asia. Two days after winning the first race of this 4th round contested in Dubai, the Frenchman scored a sixth success this Sunday at the end of a race 3 which he completely dominated ahead of David Vidales (Abu Dhabi Racing Team) and Patrik Pasma (Evans GP).

While starting from third position, the Habs had plenty of time to observe Guanyu-Zhou (Abu Dhabi Racing Team) and Ayumu Iwasa (Hitech), the two drivers who started on the front row, stalled at the start and struggled to get going. As a result, Pierre-Louis took control of the race without ever being worried, not even by David Vidales, simply pressing a few seconds after a Safety Car returned to the pit lane.

32 points ahead of Zhou

Note that the race was interrupted by a red flag, the result of a collision between Jehan Daruvala (Mumbai Falcons) and Alexandre Bardinon (Pinnacle) at mid-distance. The cars therefore had to return to the pit lane… before returning to the track for the last fifteen minutes.

In the championship and before the last round scheduled for next weekend in Abu Dhabi, Pierre-Louis made the hole. Because in addition to having collected the 25 points for victory, Jehan Daruvala did not score a single one for the second time in a row, while Guanyu Zhou could not do better than 4th after stalling at the beginning. The Frenchman now has a 32-point lead over the Chinese and 65 over the Indian.
