Like last week, Guanyu Zhou was unable to win despite his pole position. The Chinese was surprised at the start by Patrik Pasma, winner of his second race of the winter.

F3 Asia: Pasma wins ahead of Zhou

Obviously Guanyu-Zhou fails to achieve his pole positions. Once again off to a fast start this Friday for Race 1 of the Asian F3, the Abu Dhabi Racing Team driver finished 2nd, behind Patrik Pasma (Evans GP) who was quicker to react at the start. The Finn picks up his second success of the season in Asia.

But the operation remains good for the Chinese, who regained 10 of the 32 points behind Pierre-Louis Chovet before this last round. That is more than a third of his delay while there are… three races planned this weekend.

Starting in 5th position, the Frenchman was passed by David Vidales and Roy Nissany on the first lap. And while trying to regain his 6th place on the Israeli, who is rarely gentle on the track, PLC was forced to leave the limits of the circuit, before returning to the track... in front of Nissany after having gone around the cone. In order to avoid a penalty, he let the Hitech driver pass again, and eventually finished 6th after Roman Stanek retired (see below).

The bad news is nevertheless twofold for the Frenchman, since his best time in the race only allowed him to qualify in 6th position for Race 2, while Zhou made sure to once again start in first position, as for the three races of the weekend. In Race 3, PLC will also start 6th.

While he was preparing to score his first podium of the winter, Roman Stanek (Hitech) suffered a mechanical problem three minutes from the end of the race, allowing the Indian Kush Maini (Mumbai Falcons) to sign his first podium.
