Starting from pole position, Callum Ilott (Prema) made a good start but was caught by Lando Norris (Carlin) at the hairpin. The two Britons face each other in a duel which turns to the advantage of Joel Eriksson (Motopark) and Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin). Norris, then 3e, takes all the risks to attack his teammate and return to 2e instead.
The positions do not change during the vast majority of rounds, bringing Lando Norris ever closer to the title. Joel Eriksson, for his part, is heading towards a 3e victory in a row after the Red Bull Ring. Ferdinand Habsburg completes the podium in 3e instead.
Callum Ilott finishes in a frustrating 4e place in front of Jehan Daruvala (Carlin). Nikita mazepin (Hitech GP) finishes 6e ahead of Pedro Piquet who separates him from his teammates Ralf Aron and Tadasuke Makino. The 10e place of Maximilian Günther (Prema) is not enough to keep his title hopes alive.
Lando Norris is the first rookie since Esteban Ocon in 2014 to win the title in F3 and is the first non-Prema to win the laurels since the overhaul of the championship in 2012.
