F3-C2: Günther surprises Norris in Pau

Pole position will not have smiled on Lando Norris (Pug) this Sunday morning for the second of three races of the Pau weekend in the European Championship of F3. The Briton, dominant yesterday during the second qualifying session, giving him the two Sunday poles, was surprised at the start by Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam).

The driver of the Italian team definitively completed his overtake at Pont Oscar, before resisting pressure from Norris. The German will subsequently build up a sufficient lead to avoid the attempts of the resident of the fold McLaren.

Günther thus takes his first success of the year ahead of Norris, with Callum Ilott (Prema Powerteam) completing the podium. Harrison Newey (Van Amersfoort Racing) moved up to fourth position ahead of Ralf Aron (Hitech GP), Jake Hughes (Hitech GP), Nikita mazepin (Hitech GP), Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin), Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) and Jake Dennis (Carlin).

Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) fails at the points gate. Winner yesterday, Joel Eriksson (Motopark), championship leader, ended his race in the tire wall at Foch. Enough to give Norris the lead in the championship for ten units before the third confrontation of the weekend, the famous Pau Grand Prix.
