F3-C2: First success for Cassidy at Zandvoort

Nick Cassidy finally made it happen in 2016. After coming very close to the first step of the podium at Le Castellet at the start of the season or even in race 1 in the streets of Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), the Prema Powerteam driver will have waited for the Zandvoort event to bag a victory on the European scene in F3.

Starting from pole this morning in race 1, the Kiwi was unable to resist his teammate at the first corner Lance stroll, author of a better takeoff and winner of the inaugural round of the Dutch meeting. This time, it was Cassidy who took advantage of the start to get the better of pole sitter Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing), followed immediately by his teammate Maximilian Günther.

The trifecta Cassidy–Günther–Ilott will no longer progress until the finish and is ahead of the Frenchman Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing) on the line. Alessio Lorandi (Carlin) takes 5th place ahead of Ralf Aron (Prema Powerteam), David Beckmann (Mücke Motorsport), Ben Barnicoat, George Russell and Nikita mazepin who take a group shot for Hitech GP. Winner this morning, Lance Stroll (Prema Powerteam) was forced to retire, apparently due to a problem with a rim.

The last race of the Dutch weekend will take place tomorrow from 15:30 p.m. and can be followed live on video on our website.
