F3-C3: Eriksson wins ahead of Hubert
Joel Eriksson (Motopark) scored his first victory in F3 European Championship at the end of Race 3 at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The Swede took the advantage over pole sitter George Russell (HitechGP) when the lights went out, while the British Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Ben Barnicoat (HitechGP) hung on.
This accident benefited Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing) who climbed into second place ahead of George Russell, who had recovered well after falling in the standings. The Briton finally completed the podium behind the Frenchman, preceding the Championship leader Lance stroll (Prema Powerteam).
The Canadian nevertheless increases his lead in the Championship by four points against his teammate Maximilian Günther in sixth behind Nick Cassidy (Prema Powerteam). The German is now 61 points behind first place in the Drivers' standings with three meetings to go before the end of the season.
Niko Kari (Motopark), the resident of Red Bull Junior Team, took seventh place ahead Nikita mazepin (HitechGP), Mikkel Jensen (Mücke Motorsport) and David Beckmann (Mücke Motorsport).
The next round of the F3 European Championship will take place from September 9 to 11 at the Nürburgring.
