F3-C3: Pau smiles at Antonio Giovinazzi

The Pau meeting of the European Championship of F3 had been placed under the domination of the British Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam – Mercedes) during the first two races contested in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and who was aiming for the hat-trick. But, it was without counting on Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin – Volkswagen).

Starting second on the starting grid for the 74th Pau Grand Prix, the Italian will maintain the pressure throughout this third race of the weekend on pole sitter Dennis, who will ultimately be the victim of a mechanical problem (suspension) which will put an end to his hopes of a perfect score in Pau.

Giovinazzi inherits the victory ahead of the German Maximilian Günther (Mücke Motorsport – Mercedes) and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing – Volkswagen) who pocketed his third podium of the weekend. Frenchman Brandon Maïsano (Prema Powerteam) ranks 21st.

Antonio Giovinazzi remains in control of the championship at the end of the meeting ahead of Leclerc and Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam). Next F3 event at Monza from May 29 to 31.
