F3 – Callum Ilott joins Prema for 2017

Callum Ilott could well be a title contender next year in F3 European Championship. After playing for Carlin and Van Amersfoort Racing, the 18-year-old Briton will join the most competitive team on the grid, wearing the colors of Prema Powerteam.

“We looked at all the options for 2017: GP3, Indy Lights and even GP2, but another season in F3 was the most sensible choice when I only have two competitive seasons under my belt, commented Callum Ilott. I only targeted the Prema Powerteam given their success. I spent a lot of time in Italy when I was playing in karting. With its structure in GP2, I think it is a team which offers the chance to climb to F1."

It's time to use this knowledge to aim for the title and start the testing schedule as quickly as possible. Despite a 2016 season dominated by Lance stroll, Callum Ilott managed to score two victories and finished in 6th place in the Championship. The Briton concluded his 2016 program by taking 5th place at the F3 Grand Prix in Macau (China) last weekend.
