Daniil Kvyat was the fastest during testing for the F3 European Championship on the Red Bull Ring where wintry and rainy conditions awaited the drivers, with snow even being present around the circuit. The Russian from the Carlin team adapted perfectly to the weather by achieving the best times in the two qualifying sessions and will therefore start on pole during the three races of the Austrian weekend after having achieved a best time of 1'43 »825. Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsports) will start alongside him in Race 1, but the Swede will start from the second row in Race 2, changing positions with Lucas Wolf (URD Rennsport).
The poor performance of the day can be attributed to Raffaele Marciello. If the Prema Powerteam resident found his rhythm during the second session to take the first row while still four tenths behind the poleman, the solid leader of the Championship was missed in the first session since he will not start 13th place in Race 1 and 16th position in Race 2.
