F3 – Esteban Ocon gets off to a good start to his Hungarian weekend

French Esteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam), arrives at this fourth meeting of the season still in control of the championship F3. The Lotus driver F1 totals 164 points thanks to his good results and in particular his three victories out of nine races contested. The Swede Tom Blomqvist (Carlin) is his closest rival with 107 units on the clock.

The two drivers will fight for hundredths of a second at the famous Hungaroring. This is the first time that the 4,831 km turnstile is on the F3 program. It's a slow, bumpy and narrow circuit and Blomqvist intends to take advantage of it to contain the Habs at the start and make up for the deficit in the championship. To do this, you will have to be the fastest in qualifying. “It’s a track that corresponds perfectly to an F3, says Blomqvist. But overtaking here is anything but easy. A good position on the grid is essential. »

For the moment it is Esteban Ocon who dominated the first day in Hungary thanks to a lap of 1'35"801 during the second free practice session. The 17-year-old Frenchman beat the Swede Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) and his Prema teammate, the Italian Antonio Fuoco.
