F3 – Felix Rosenqvist unbeatable at the Red Bull Ring

Daniil Kvyat once again started from pole for the final race of the weekend. F3 European Championship in Spielberg. But the Carlin driver quickly had to give way to Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) and Felix Rosenqvist. At the cost of a superb pass of arms in the first lap, the Swede took the advantage over the resident of the Ferrari Driver Academy before the latter was also taken over by the Russian. But the battle ended abruptly when the safety car went out on the track following an impressive pile-up at the start involving numerous drivers including Mans Grenhagen (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Tom Blomqvist (Eurointernational). But Lucas Auer (Prema Powerteam) still had time to move up the peloton to take fourth place even though he started from fourth position.

After a long interruption, Felix Rosenqvist retained the advantage at the restart ahead of Daniil Kvyat, but Raffaele Marciello was curiously lacking in speed and was quickly overtaken by Lucas Auer. The Italian finally managed to salvage a sixth place after giving way to Harry Tincknell (Carlin) and Jordan King (Carlin). The Swede won a hat-trick at the end of a race shortened by four laps and thus achieved the best result of the season. With his three victories, the Mücke Motorsport driver is just 27,5 points behind Raffaele Marciello who had an 80,5 points lead before this weekend. Daniil Kvyat settles for second place for the third time in a row, while Lucas Auer manages to secure a podium on his home soil.

The next meeting of the F3 European Championship will take place on July 13 and 14 at the Norisring.
