F3 – Gustavo Menezes leaves for Carlin

Gustavo Menezes leaves Van Amersfoort Racing where he played Max Verstappen to join Carlin in order to play its second season in F3 European Championship. The 20-year-old Californian is the first driver confirmed by the British team. “Carlin is a fantastic team that excels in all the Championships it competes in. The list of drivers who have raced for them is impressive and I am sure to achieve good results with them next year”, underlined Gustavo Menezes.

The American is aiming for a career at the highest level after watching rivals such as Max Verstappen or Esteban Ocon reach the top of the single-seaters. The arrival of Haas F1 Team in 2016 can only motivate him more. “Like all young American drivers, I would love to be involved in F1, in DTM, riding a IndyCar or in Sports car… It would be a dream come true. But the only way to do that is to win races. »

Gustavo Menezes finished in 11th place in the Drivers' Championship while Carlin took fifth position on the Teams side. “We followed him with interest this year and he clearly has great potential,” assured Trevor Carlin, the boss of the team of the same name. “Gustavo adapted very quickly to our team and it is important to have good relationships between the staff and the driver. He had some very good tests with us, whether last week in GP3 or in F3 this week at Silverstone (Great Britain). »
