Callum Ilott and Lance Stroll have won the first two races of the F3 European Championship at the Red Bull Ring.

F3 – Ilott and Stroll winners at the Red Bull Ring

Race 1 of the F3 European Championship at Red Bull Ring (Austria) was interrupted following a terrible accident involving several pilots. While Ryan Tveter was stopped on track after spinning, his car was hit by Zhi Cong Li who found himself propelled several meters into the air before falling back into the gravel trap. The pilots were taken to the medical center. Li remained conscious while Tveter reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) was declared the winner of the race, securing his second victory of the season. Lance stroll (Prema Powerteam) and Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) complete the podium after the German regained the advantage from Mikkel Jensen (Mücke Motorsport). George Russell (Hitech GP) and Nick Cassidy (Prema Powerteam) complete the top five.

Race 2

Lance Stroll dominated the second event of the weekend. If the development driver Williams was put under pressure by Callum Ilott after the latter took the lead from George Russell, the Van Amersfoort Racing resident made an error allowing the leader to overtake him. The top three no longer progressed until the checkered flag.

Callum Ilott was demoted from second to fourth place. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver, winner of the first race, received a five-second penalty for failing to respect track limits.

George Russell inherited second place on the podium. Niko Kari inherited third place. David Beckmann, initially fifth, received the same sanction and fell to seventh, while Joel Eriksson moved from tenth to 14th place.
