F3 – Macau: Ticktum wins the Grand Prix in an incredible finish

At the start, Joel Eriksson (Motopark) took the advantage over pole sitter Callum Ilott (Theodore Racing) in the first few meters, but the race was quickly interrupted by a Full Course Yellow following the accident of Marino Sato (Motopark). At the restart, contact between the two leaders put Eriksson out of the race and forced Ilott to pit, leaving the lead of the race to Sergio Sette Câmara (Motopark) ahead of Maximilian Günther (Theodore Racing) and Ferdinand Habsbourg (Carlin).

The Austrian, much more comfortable with his tires, easily overtook Günther and charged towards Sette Câmara. The German, delicately, creates a traffic jam with Lando Norris (Pug), Daniel Ticktum (Motopark) behind him. With five laps to go, these three drivers find themselves three abreast in Lisboa and it is the driver of the Red Bull Junior Team doing best in 3e position.

In the last hectometers, the MP Motorsport resident saw his tire capital collapse against Habsburg who tried everything for everything by overtaking the Brazilian at Fisherman's on the last lap. But this overtake sends the two leaders into oversteer and end the race in the rail, thus offering an unexpected victory to Daniel Ticktum ahead of Lando Norris and Ralf Aron (Van Amersfoort Racing), who started from 13e place and best rookie.

Although a passenger in his carcass, Ferdinand Habsburg managed to reach the finish line in 4e position, less than 2 tenths from the Estonian. Maximilian Günther finishes 5the ahead of Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing). Sacha Fenestration (Carlin) is the author of a great comeback and finishes in 7e place in front of Guan Yu Zhou (Theodore Racing). Tadasuke Makino (Motopark) and Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) complete the top 10 of 64e Macau Grand Prix.
