F3 – Maximilian Günther wins the Pau Grand Prix

Maximilian Gunther had the perfect day this Sunday in Pau. Winner of the second race of the weekend this morning after surprising Lando Norris (Pug) At the start, the German from Prema Powerteam took advantage of the mistake made by the Briton from Trevor Carlin's team during the third confrontation of the weekend to add his name to the list of winners of the Pau event.

When the lights went out, Lando Norris had taken the best start by perfectly controlling Günther and his teammate Callum Ilott by crossing his trajectory before presenting himself as leader when braking for the Gare corner.

Behind, the main change in the hierarchy concerns Joel Eriksson (Motopark) who loses a place to Harrison Newey (Van Amersfoort Racing). For his part, Norris immediately increased the pace and opened up an initial gap of 1″8 on Günther after two laps.

The safety car was deployed twenty-three minutes from the end of the race after the exit of David Beckmann (Van Amersfoort Racing) at turn 9. There was nothing to distract Norris at this moment, who made a perfect return to action, when Ralf Aron (Hitech GP) took the advantage for fourth place over Newey.

But less than ten minutes from the checkered flag, Norris makes a mistake after a suspension problem in the S of the Foch descent, and abandons his hopes of Béarnaise success to Günther. The resident of René Rosin's Italian structure will not be worried until the finish, and is ahead of his teammate Callum Ilott and Ralf Aron.

Harrison Newey places first car of Van Amersfoort Racing at the foot of the podium ahead of Joel Eriksson and Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin). The top 10 is completed by Tadasuke Makino (Hitech GP), Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing), Jake Dennis (Carlin) and Guanyu-Zhou (Prema Powerteam). Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) finished 12th behind the best rookie Jehan Daruvala (Carlin).
