F3: Melker performs well at the Norisring

Starting from a mediocre eleventh place on the grid, Nigel Melker took victory in the first race of the weekend at the Norisring. Contested under a wet track, the race turned to the advantage of the Mücke Motorsport driver when Laurens Vanthoor and Marco Wittmann, two Signature drivers, received a 30-second penalty for not having respected the yellow flags waved on the German circuit.

“Staying on slick tires despite the rain turned out to be the right decision, even if I wasn?t as fast in the rain”, comments the winner. “I really slowed down when the yellow flags were waved, which allowed the others to come back. But I didn't want to take a penalty. »

At the end of the pit stops where the drivers replaced their wet tires with slicks, Daniel Abt attacked his teammate Laurens Vanthoor for first place. But the drivers collided and the German had to retire with a broken front right suspension.

The second race will take place this afternoon at 16:15 p.m.
