F3 – Rosenqvist delays deadline

There are two races remaining in this season and the FIA European Championship title F3 has not yet been awarded. Author of pole position, Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) could have put an end to the suspense. With his 45,5 points lead before this Hockenheim final, the driver of the Ferrari Driver Academy would have been crowned champion regardless of the result of Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) if he won this first race.

However, determined to play his card until the end, Rosenqvist reacted best when the lights went out and took the lead at the first corner ahead of his rival. Rosenqvist then continued the fast laps to increase his lead until the checkered flag. This ninth success of the season allows him to come back to 38,5 points behind Marciello in the championship, and therefore to maintain a slim hope. But the Italian clearly secured the points for 2nd place.

« We both got a good start, but I managed to take the lead » analyzed the Swede. “ I was afraid that he would take advantage of the slipstream in the first laps, but I managed to get quite a lead. I have nothing else to do but win and wait for luck to help me a little. The main thing is to keep my chances open as long as possible. We already have to win the next race and then we'll see? ". Behind the two protagonists vying for the title, the German Sven Müller (Van Amersfoort Racing) scored his very first Top 3 of the year.

The second race of the weekend takes place this afternoon at 17:05 p.m.
