A few days after his coronation in the FIA European Championship F3, the pilot of the Ferrari Driver Academy took control of a Formula Renault 3.5 for the first time in his career at the Circuit de Catalunya, not far from Barcelona. For two days, the 18-year-old Italian drove for DAMS and Tech 1 Racing and was able to set encouraging times.
“I'm happy with how these tests went and how I adapted to the car. It reminds me a lot of Formula 3 which I have been driving for several seasons., indicated Marciello. I feel good physically since I covered more than 100 laps without feeling the slightest fatigue. »
These tests, requested by the director of the Ferrari Driver Academy Luca Baldisserri, took place on a dry track on the first day and a wet track on the second. Sixth on the first day with DAMS in 1.30.247, Marciello was able to ride in the rain and set the fifth time (1.31.145) aboard the car of Simon Abadie's Tech 1 the next day.
The FDA driver program will continue with GP2 series testing on the Abu Dhabi circuit from November 5 to 7.
