FIA F3 World Cup – 22 drivers competing at the Macau GP

It is impossible to list here all the legendary drivers who have registered their name on the list of winners of the legendary Grand Prix. F3 from Macau. We will therefore limit ourselves to recalling that Ayrton Senna won there in 1983 and that Michael Schumacher imitated him seven years later, in 1990.

Among the 22 candidates vying to succeed António Félix da Costa, winner last year, is the son of the seven-time champion of F1, twelfth in the FIA F3 Europe 2017. The young 18-year-old German, whose uncle, Ralf, also triumphed in the streets of Macau in 1995. He will obviously defend the interests of the Prema Powerteam, just like the Briton Callum Ilott (recently recruited by the FDA), Guanyu-Zhou and Maximilian Gunther.

Günther, who will find his two tormentors from the European Championship, namely the champion Lando Norris (Carlin) and the Swede Joel Eriksson (Motopark).

Carlin, who will also trust Frenchman Sacha Fenestraz, current leader of the Eurocup FR 2.0. Pedro Piquet and Ralf Aron will defend the interests of Van Amersfoort Racing.

Finally, you will have to be wary of competitors from Japanese F3, often in great spirits in Macau. Let us mention in particular Alex Palou (ThreeBon Racing with Dorago Corse), who also shines in the World Series Fomula V8 3.5 and the two protégés of the very feared Tom'S team, the Japanese Sho Tsuboi and Ritomo Miyata, respectively second and fourth in Japan F3. For the occasion, they will meet their compatriot Yuhi Sekiguchi, who is today one of the major players in Super Formula.

Note that eight of the drivers who finished in the top 10 of the European F3 championship are in the game.
