Title holder in the streets of Macau, Dan Ticktum (Motopark) is logically to be placed among the favorites for the 2018 FIA World Cup title F3 and the Briton responded from the first qualifications of the event organized on the Guia route.
The Briton achieved the best Q1 time in 2'11"004, or 132 thousandths better than Callum Ilott (Carlin). Mick Schumacher (SJM Theodore Racing by Prema) remains in ambush to play for pole position in the qualifying race, after taking the third provisional time in 2'11″433, nevertheless four tenths behind Ticktum.
Jake Hughes (Hitech GP) provisionally takes fourth place in the same tenth as Schumacher and precedes Yuhi Sekiguchi (B-MAX Racing) and the Frenchman Sacha Fenestraz (Carlin), both pointing seven tenths from Ticktum.
The session was interrupted three times by a red flag, the first two following contact with the rails of Hitech GP residents Hon Chio Leong and Enaam Ahmed, before the very last moments of the session were disrupted by the exit of Sena Sakaguchi (Toda Racing).
