The forecast rain disrupted Sunday morning in Monza, Italy, for the second Formula qualifying session. Renault Eurocup.
But nothing to prevent Alexander Smolyar (R-ace GP) from taking pole position for the second race of the meeting. The Russian set the reference time (2'02″812) in the last part of a session interrupted several times under red flag conditions, following various incidents on the track.
Author of pole yesterday, the Italian Lorenzo Colombo (MP Motorsport) failed at 54 thousandths, the same time as his French teammate Victor Martins, who will however start in third position on the grid.
Oscar piastri (R-ace GP) and Kush Maini (M2 Competition), best rookie, entered the top 5 of the session.
Both @mpmotorsport_ cars of @lore_colombo12 & @VictorMartinsFR improve in 2:02.866, but that's not enough to prevent Alexander Smolyar to claim his first pole position in #FormulaRenault!
Will reigning fields @R_aceGP bounce back in style after their pointless opening race? pic.twitter.com/X2h4qfUZFc
