JD Motorsport is definitely the team to beat at the Imola circuit. After dominating all the collective tests on Thursday with Alatalo, as well as free practice, qualifying and race 1 with David Vidales on Friday and Saturday, the Finnish team shone again during qualifying for Race 2 of the meeting. Imola. William Alatalo indeed took pole position, just ahead of his teammate David Vidales (+0 »166), winner of his very first career race on Saturday.
Alatalo, who had stayed away from pole for almost all of the thirty minutes of qualifying, put in an excellent final lap to take control. Both men will have the championship leader in their rearview mirror Hi Collett (R-Ace GP), who took 3rd place Alex Quinn (Arden) for a small thousandth (!).
The French are suffering
For its part, Victor martins (ART Grand Prix) will start from 5th position, after being on provisional pole. This will not be a gift, on a track where overtaking with these one-make formulas is a miracle. The Frenchman may regret only failing 4 hundredths behind... 2nd, at the end of an extremely tight session at the front.
His two compatriots Reshad of Gerus (Arden) and Hadrian David (MP Motorsport) experienced more difficulties. The first city will start from 16th position, while the French Formula 4 champion will start from 18th place.
