Eliminated from the grid on a track made tricky by the rain yesterday, Oscar piastri (R-ace GP) set the record straight this Sunday in Budapest in conditions that were much drier than Saturday.
Best time in qualifying, the championship leader resisted the attack at the start from his teammate Alexander Smolyar, before controlling the restart following the stoppage of Frank Bird (Arden).
Piastri will then never really be worried about victory, not even by a second neutralization, each time building up a sufficient lead to remain out of reach of the Alexander Smolyar – Victor Martins (MP Motorsport) tandem, winner the day before.
Under the checkered flag, Piastri claimed a sixth success in 2019 and consolidated his lead in the championship, with 222 points on the clock compared to 184,5 for Martins. The next Formula meeting Renault Eurocup will take place at the end of the month in Barcelona in Catalonia, alongside the Blancpain GT Series final Endurance Cup
