The second race of the Formula weekend Renault Eurocup in the Belgian Ardennes saw the victory of Lorenzo Colombo (MP Motorsport) on Saturday July 27. The Italian, aged 18, played through the pitfalls of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit to record his third success in four races.
“The car was just awesome, exclaimed the third in Italian Formula 4 in 2017. I got off to a bad start, losing a place, but then I moved up the pack. I then managed my pace so that the drivers behind avoided taking my slipstream.
I am still learning a lot of things, my discovery season in the Eurocup last year is very useful to me”, he concluded. The podium is completed by the rookie Caio Collet (R-ace GP) and Federico Malvestiti (Bhaitech), even though the latter caused the race to be stopped at the end of the race.
Indeed, the Italian spun before being hit violently by the Russian Alexander Smolyar (R-ace GP), fortunately without seriousness. French Victor martins (MP Motorsport) struggled and lost several places. Starting second, he finished fifth.
Finally, Ugo de Wilde (JD Motorsport) and Amaury Cordeel (MP Motorsport) did not shine in front of their home crowd, finishing at the back of the peloton after clashes.
