FR Eurocup – Martins wins first pole of the season at Monza

This is the particularity of the Formulas Renault Eurocup this season. The winner of the first qualification wins the right to start from the pole of the race… 2. The reason? Avoid overly penalizing drivers and teams who have a technical problem in the short time between the second qualifying and the first race.

Dominant this Thursday in Lombardy, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) will therefore start in pole position on Saturday (9:45 a.m.), thanks to his eighth consecutive pole position in the discipline, won on horseback last year.

The Frenchman dominated the Brazilian Caio Collet (R-ace GP), best rookie of the last exercise and beaten by a little more than three tenths, and the Belgian Amaury Cordeel (FA Racing). As for the rookies, it was the Finn William Alatalo (JD Motorsport) who did the best, finishing 4th at 0″467.

The French FFSA F4 champion Hadrien David (MP Motorsport), also a debutant in the series, set the 12th fastest time of the session, 0 seconds behind his compatriot. His runner-up in F755 Reshad of Gerus, a resident of the Arden training, finished the session in 18th position at 1″604. The second qualification will take place Friday morning at 9 a.m.
