Jousse can harbor ambitions

Formula vice-champion Renault 3.5, Julien Jousse found a steering wheel this season, integrating the new championship of Formula 2. Desired by Max Mosley, the discipline pits single-seaters with chassis developed by Williams, topped with Audi engines. Since this weekend, at the end of the second round of the championship, Julien Jousse has occupied fourth place in the standings, with 16 points, five points behind the leader, Mirko Bortolotti. While Robert Wickens had dominated the entire first round in Valencia (2 poles, 2 victories), the Czech weekend helped relaunch the season and its interest. And the Frenchman Jousse is now well placed.

After a mixed first round (5th then 10th) in Valence, the native of Saint-Raphaël was able to capitalize in Brno. On Sunday, Julien Jousse even had the opportunity to win. But Andy Soucek, who comes from GP2, was able to get the best start. Fifth on the grid, Jousse saw the Spaniard pass him as De Marco took the lead, Surtees and Aleshin missing their start. From the second corner, a collision involved seven cars, adding to the spectacular side of the start of the race. On the tenth lap, De Marco made a mistake which caused him to lose several places, leaving Andy Soucek in charge. The Spaniard then maintained his lead, keeping an eye on Jousse, in ambush.

In the end, Mirko Bortolotti, winner of the first race, retains the lead in the championship. But Julien Jousse, fourth and author of a promising race on Sunday, can have real ambitions. But, to position yourself as a potential champion (and test on a Formula 1 Williams in the key), the Frenchman must now achieve success. And why not from Spa this weekend…
