The F3 European Championship will welcome 30 drivers

The inaugural season of the F3 European Championship was enlivened by a sumptuous duel between Felix Rosenqvist and Raffaele Marciello for the title. If the resident of the Ferrari Driver Academy emerged victorious from the duel between him and the Swede, the latter will make his return to the discipline with Mücke Motorsport. The Scandinavian will not be the only one to continue since Mitch Gilbert and John Bryant-Meisner will form the Fortec Motorsports crew. Felipe Guimaraes will represent Double R Racing.

The F3 European Championship will be contested by a quality field since only seven rookies are entered this season: Esteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam), Michele Beretta (Eurointernational), Jules Szymkowiak (Van Amerfoort Racing), Oscar Tunjo (Signature), Antonio Fuoco (Prema Powerteam), Jake Dennis (Carlin) and Max Verstappen (Van Amersofoort Racing). The American Santino Ferrucci (Eurointernational) will also make his debut in the discipline from the round at the Hungaroring (May 31 and June 1). In total, around thirty cars will line up on the starting grids this year.

“We are delighted to fill the F3 grid with 30 single-seaters, which confirms that this discipline has returned to the forefront among the promotion formulas”, comments Gerhard Berger, President of the FIA Single-seater Commission. “It is the best training school where every pilot should be trained there. The entry list, which includes 12 major teams, looks fantastic with experienced drivers and several rookies whose performance will be highlighted by a specific ranking. With the general level, we will have an exceptional new champion this season. The year 2014 is also marked by the arrival of a new generation of engines opening up a long-term perspective. Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Renault and Neil Brown Engineering are all back and we are working hard to persuade other builders to join us. »
