FIA F3 entry list revealed

There will be twenty drivers, spread across five teams, to compete for Lance Stroll's succession in the F3 European Championship.

The European Championship F3 now constitutes one of the preferred accession levels for F1, after confirming the emergence of Esteban Ocon, or Max Verstappen. A strengthened position with the renewal of the FIA F2, which took over from the GP2 Series and thus completes the FIA pyramid.

In 2017, twenty drivers will be lined up in the five teams (powered by Mercedes or Volkswagen) registered year-round in the continental series. If the scarecrow Prema Powerteam will once again face Hitech GP, Motopark, Van Amersfoort Racing and Carlin, the list notably sees the disappearance of Mücke Motorsport, pillar of the championship since 2012.

The main headliners are named Harrison Newey and Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing), as well as Maximilian Gunther. The latter will have to deal with the arrival at Prema Powerteam of Mick Schumacher, whose performance will be logically monitored. At Carlin, Lando Norris, new resident of the young pilot program McLaren, will play his card after dominating the Eurocup FR 2.0 last year.

Motopark and Carlin have yet to confirm the identity of a driver.
