The Bianchi-Vietoris duel continues

Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix) did not have a completely successful season. After an almost perfect first half of the year in terms of results, including a solid success at Zandvoort, the Frenchman saw his luck change at Brands Hatch, on the short and difficult Brands Hatch track. Having made a mistake during qualifying, the championship leader went far down the grid in the first race. His attempt to overtake Tiago Geronimi sent both men violently off the track. The next day, the Nice player was too physically weak to try his luck starting from the back. In the end, a weekend without points and a lead which reduces from 25 to 16 points over Christian Vietoris (Mücke Motorsport), who was not entirely able to take advantage of the windfall to come back closer to the Frenchman.

But since then, Jules Bianchi has gotten back into the rhythm of the competition. The Frenchman took part, last weekend, in the penultimate round of the championship F3 British, on the occasion of which Daniel Ricciardo was crowned champion. Bianchi even shone since he won in the two Portimao races, erasing the disillusionment of Brands Hatch, in order to arrive in Barcelona with newfound competitiveness and without the doubts linked to his double exit from the English track.

With three rounds and six races remaining, Christian Vietoris will now try everything to get back to the leader of the general classification. But the Frenchman seems to have a morale of steel and an ability to turn the page in the event of disappointment to get back on the right path.

In addition to the duel between the two men, the field offers several driver changes. Renger Van der Zande, who left the British F3 championship, joins the Euro Series at Motopark Academy, replacing Atte Mustonen. Stefano Coletti (Prema Powerteam), injured in the GP2 Series at Spa, should hold his place since he seems to have recovered from his violent exit from the track. As for Brendon Hartley (Carlin Motorsport), he will not be present in Barcelona due to the Nürburgring Formula meeting Renault 3.5 Series, a championship in which the New Zealander also participates.
