The Pau Grand Prix (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) ensured the presence of an international single-seater championship. As in 2019, where Billy Monger won after a breathtaking comeback, the Euroformula Open will be one of the headliners of the Béarn event.
The 2020 calendar, published on the evening of Friday October 11 by the Spanish organizers GT Sport, makes Pau the second round of the season on the weekend of May 23 and 24, after Paul-Ricard (Var, April 25-26). Spectators will be able to see the introduction ofa new Formula 3, built by the Italian company Dallara.
The 320 will have a safety halo as well as more modern aerodynamics than the previous version, while preserving the 2.0 liter engine currently used.
Pau will be joined by another historic route: Enna Pergusa (Italy). If this name does not remind young people of anything, the track located around a Sicilian lake received the Formula 1 in the 1960s, before becoming a justice of the peace for promotion formulas (F2, F3, F3000) in the last century.
“Thanks to a public-private partnership, a lot of work has been undertaken over the last few years to modernize the circuit and the venue”, explains Mario Sgrò, president of the Ente Autodromo Pergusa Consortium.
In total, nine trips are planned in 2020, subject to approval by the sporting authorities concerning the meetings in Hockenheim (Germany), Enna Pergusa and Monza (Italy). The season will end in Barcelona (Spain).
