Lorenzo Colombo opens his account in C1 at Paul Ricard

Lorenzo Colombo (MP Motorsport) scored his first Formula success Renault Eurocup this Saturday on the Paul Ricard track, after dominating the event from start to finish, from pole position.

The start went smoothly in the first turns for the leaders with Colombo maintaining the advantage over Oscar piastri (R-ace GP), the latter largely passing over a curb before entering the first corner.

Victor Martins (MP Motorsport), despite an average start, remains third, resisting Caio Collet (R-ace GP) and Alexander Smolyar (R-ace GP). But a few meters further on, a collision between Petr Ptacek (Bhaitech) and Amaury Cordeel (MP Motorsport) occurred, causing the safety car to come out.

At the restart, Colombo took Piastri, Martins, Smolyar and Collet in its wake. Colombo quickly opened up a margin of just under a second on Piastri and gradually widened the gap to cross the finish line without being worried and achieve his first success in the discipline.

Piastri and Martins complete the podium of this first race ahead of Alexander Smolyar and Caio Collet. Martins remains leader of the provisional general classification with two points ahead of Piastri.

Sunday will see a second qualifying and a second race for the series promoted by Renault Sport.
