Oscar Piastri wins at Silverstone

First pole for Piastres

Competitors were greeted by a slightly damp track in the morning. In these conditions, slick tires quickly proved to be the best option and Oscar Piastri took the opportunity to take his first pole position in 1'57''873 ahead of his teammate Alexander Smolyar.

Behind the two Formula Renault FR-19 from the R-ace GP team, we found the rookie Kush Maini (M2 Competition) and Callan O'Keeffe (FA Racing by Drivex). Renault Sport Academy driver Caio Collet (R-ace GP) completed the top five, followed by Petr Ptáček and João Vieira.

Piastri whoever loses wins

Faster than the poleman when the lights went out, Alexander Smolyar placed himself alongside Oscar Piastri before the two men attacked the first turns side by side in a magnificent duel which ultimately turned to the advantage of the Russian .

Behind, the peloton was animated by the passage of Caio Collet on the grass. Despite a damaged front wing, Kush Maini retained third place before losing to Petr Ptáček on the second lap, then João Vieira, Ugo de Wilde (JD Motorsport), Callan O'Keeffe and Caio Collet a lap later.

Although Alexander Smolyar and Oscar Piastri quickly distanced their pursuers, the leader was forced to retire due to the breakage of a rod stud on the ninth lap. Lonely in the lead, Oscar Piastri continued at the same pace, increasing his lead over Petr Ptáček, who was surprised by João Vieira four laps from the finish.

On the sixteenth lap, Oscar Piastri sealed his first victory in the category with more than twelve seconds ahead of João Vieira, third winner of the Hankook Trophy reserved for the best rookie in as many races this season. Third, Petr Ptáček also took his first podium in the Formula Renault Eurocup, the first for Bhaitech Racing.

Fourth under the checkerboard, Callan O'Keeffe received a ten-second penalty for not respecting the track limits. The South African then dropped to eighth behind Ugo de Wilde, Caio Collet, Lorenzo Colombo (MP Motorsport) and Leonardo Lorandi (JD Motorsport). Starting seventeenth, Patrik Pasma (Arden Motorsport) made a good comeback to finish ninth while Victor Martins (MP Motorsport) took the last point in game.
