Regional: Leclerc doubles the stake, Chovet 2nd

What a race! Contested on a drying Mugello track but under unstable weather conditions, race 2 of the Formula Regional Europe weekend offered quite a spectacle. The first part of the race was to the advantage of the two Frenchmen Pierre-Louis Chovet (VAR) and Gillian Henrion (private team), both of whom started on slicks. Both men had an extremely impressive pace against a peloton shod on wet tires.

Faced with the pace displayed by the two Frenchmen, everyone then returned to the pits to switch to slicks. But when the entire peloton was finally perfectly shod on dry tires, the rain made a reappearance and forced everyone to return to the pits. Again. And while Frenchman Pierre-Louis Chovet flew to victory with a 32-second lead, the safety car was deployed.

In Dantean conditions, it was Arthur Leclerc, already winner the day before in similar conditions, who came out on top. 6th on the restart with five minutes to go, Charles' brother brought everyone up very quickly . Until taking the lead from Pierre-Louis Chovet and never letting go.

Second victory in a row in Italy for the Monegasque, who took advantage of the 3rd place of Gianluca Petecof (Prema) to take control of the championship. Note, therefore, the excellent 4th place of Gillian Henrion, who rides in a private team in her name and who achieves her best ranking of the season. Race 3 will take place at 15:40 p.m. this Sunday.
