Soucek capitalizes, Jousse left behind

Andy Soucek gleans his fourth victory of the season in Formula 2 and ensures a more serene end to the season. With only five races remaining, the Spaniard is getting closer and closer to the championship title. F2 and the matching reward, a test F1 at the wheel of a Williams. Pole position is often a valuable advantage and Andy Soucek was able to learn it at Oschersleben.

Starting without incident at the start, the Spaniard took the lead ahead of Mirko Bortolotti. The Italian, who started less well, was caught by Robert Wickens, before regaining his position. Tobias Hegewald tried to take advantage of the maneuver to follow Bortolotti and overtake Wickens. But the German hit the Canadian, causing a major pile-up in the peloton. If Robert Wickens, Jolyon Palmer and Jason Moore were able to resume the race at the end of the peloton, others were not so lucky. Julien Jousse, Jens Hoing, Milos Pavlovic, Phillipp Eng and Tobias Hegewald had to stop their race on the first lap, seeing themselves deprived of points for this first round of the weekend.

After the restart, Andy Soucek was able to maintain the race lead to, at the end of 25 laps, win in front of Mirko Bortolotti. Winner of his fourth race of the season, Andy Soucek nevertheless made a point of emphasizing the difficulty of these Formula 2 races. It seems easy at times, but it's not., confides the championship leader. I got off to a very good start. Then throughout the race, I was focused on not making any mistakes. But I still attacked constantly; I did, by far, the best lap in the race. I'll try to get the second one tomorrow. »

Julien Jousse, Jens Hoing, Milos Pavlovic and Phillipp Eng, who had ambition for this race which they saw end in the first lap, will be entitled to the second race as a catch-up session, Sunday from 13:50 p.m. But Andy Soucek?s appetite for victory could well deprive them of standing out.
