F3 Euro Series collective testing: Only 12 cars in Barcelona

Further weakened by the defection of ART Grand Prix, the plateau of the F3 Will Euro Series succeed in expanding? Less than fifteen cars made up the grids last year, and nothing is less certain that this figure will be exceeded next month during the first round of the Paul Ricard circuit, in the prologue of the Le Mans Series.

The inventory of competitors at work on the Catalunya circuit did not take much time: we note the four Dallara-Volkswagen of Signature, the reigning champion team, in the hands of the German Marco Wittmann, of the Belgian Laurens Vanthoor, the Colombian Carlos Munoz and the German Daniel Abt. Then the three with the same engine from Motopark Academy for the Japanese Kimiya Sato, the Swede Jimmy Ericsson and the Canadian Gianmarco Raimondo. Another Dallara-VW is entered for the Pole Kuba Giermaziak by the new Star Racing team.
Two teams defend the engine Mercedes : Mücke Motorsport with the Dutchman Nigel Melker and the Swede Felix Rosenqvist, and Prema Powerteam with the two Spaniards Robert Merhi and Daniel Juncadella. The latter, a member of the Catalan program ?Joves Pilots? (supervised by the former pilot F1 Luis Perez-Sala), has just been integrated into that of Mercedes Young Driver, like Merhi last year.

On Sunday, Merhi set the best time in 1'38 ahead of Melker and Wittmann. On Monday, it was Melker's turn to finish the day in the lead with 661'1, ahead of Wittmann and Sato.
