Ticktum: “a kamikaze gesture” on the part of Ralf Aron at the Pau GP

The verbal joust between Ralph Aron (Prema Theodore Racing) and Dan ticktum (Motopark) went unnoticed during the 77th Grand Prix of Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). On Saturday morning, after Race 1, the two men spoke about a daring overtake by the Estonian on the Briton from the outside of the first corner to gain second place.

“It’s difficult to overtake in Pau, but not impossible, said Ralf Aron, who the next day would become the first Estonian to win the Béarnais Grand Prix. We clashed a bit with Dan, but such is the race. It didn't pose a problem for me. »

“I wouldn’t necessarily call overtaking where the two cars touch each other “a nice maneuver”, replied the winner of the Macau Grand Prix, looking annoyed. F3 2017. It's a kamikaze move, especially in the first round of the season. »

Asked about the meaning of the term “kamikaze”, Ralf Aron preferred to smile at this kindness. “The red nose of my car can be intimidating! I had this overtake in the back of my mind during the restart, but I wasn't really thinking about it because it's only the first race of the year. »

“But Dan braked so early, so I launched the attack. I don't think I'm a suicide bomber, everything was under control on my side, maybe it was different with him. I was in front of him going into the turn, but he released the brakes to save something (his second position. Ed.) and he touched me. » It promises for the other 30 races of the year!
