A success signed Vernay

Sixth in Saturday's race, Jean-Karl Vernay knew he was fast and capable of a better result. The Signature driver proved it on the Hockenheim ring, achieving a perfect race during the second round of this weekend. Thanks to a very good start, Mika Mäki's teammate was able to take the lead by overtaking Atte Mustonen and Christian Vietoris from the start of the race. Proof that the Volkswagen engine is falling behind Mercedes, Vernay did not see his leadership called into question throughout the race. Helped by new sets of tires, Jean-Karl Vernay resisted the repeated attacks from Vietoris, even if the German had to give up fairly quickly. The Mücke Motorsport driver, however, took a good second place, ahead of another Frenchman, Jules Bianchi from the ART Grand Prix team.

Bianchi snatched a deserved podium after a race where he had to constantly control the offensive tendencies of Mika Mäki. Stefano Coleti, winner on Saturday, placed fifth and put in a very good performance over the entire weekend. Disappointment for the second ART GP driver, Valtteri Botas, only sixteenth.
On the French side, satisfaction is in order with Vernay and Bianchi on the podium, even if the other two Blues had to abandon. Adrien Tambay, a moment leader of the rookies, stopped after twelve laps (out of 24), while Alexandre Marsoin had to stop four laps later.
