A new F3 by Dallara for the Euroformula Open

La Formula 3 as purists have known for many years will continue thanks to the arrival of a new model in 2020. Dallara, already author of Formula 3 in the 2000s and 2020s, presented the 320, eligible for the Euroformula Open in 2020 .

This F3 keeps the 2.0 liter engine currently used in the international championship managed by GT Sport. The monocoque is new, with the addition of a safety halo, an extractable carbon bucket, 25 millimeters of safety foam around the driver and a tank meeting the FIA FT5 standard.

Despite the addition of the titanium Halo, the 580 kg of the previous version (F317) will almost be reached. The aerodynamics have been particularly reworked, taking inspiration from the Formula 1. The 320 kit can be purchased by teams already present in the Euroformula Open.

“It was not possible to include the Halo on the current chassis, explains Jos Claes, engineer for Dallara and project manager of the 320. We therefore came to the idea of creating an “upgrade” on the car existing.

We encountered many difficulties with the F3 regulations, so we adopted the safety standards from F1. This gave us more freedom in interesting areas to make the car lighter. »
