Scheduled for 2019, the W Series, reserved for female drivers, has pre-selected 55 competitors who will claim a place on the starting grid on May 3 at Hockenheim, scene of the opening of the championship, on the sidelines of the DTM. The series announced that it had received more than 100 registration requests.
Among the lucky provisional electors, we find some well-known names like the Dutchwoman Beitske Visser, BMW driver this year in GT, Carmen Jorda, former resident of Renault F1, Vicky Piria, who worked in the GP3 Series or the Pro Mazda Championship, Sarah Bovy engaged for several seasons in GT and notably in the Lamborghini fold, Alice Powell, engaged in the GP3 Series between 2012 and 2013 or even Jamie Chadwick, winner in 2015 in GT4 in British GT.
Only 18 of them will be selected after the selections led in particular by David Coulthard and Alexander Wurz to compete in the season at the wheel of Tatuus T-318 chassis. Only one absence to deplore: that of a French representative in this list.
