Vergne: “I wanted my revenge”

Jean-Eric Vergne (Carlin) was impatiently awaiting the Magny-Cours races but, in front of his audience, the Frenchman was unable to convert his two poles into victories and left the lead in the general classification of F3 British to Oli Webb. This weekend, the driver of the French FFSA Circuit team and the Red Bull Junior Team set the record straight, winning twice at Hockenheim.

« I wanted to take my revenge, explains JEV. At Magny-Cours, I was the fastest driver but incidents caused me to miss victory twice, and lose the lead in the championship by a few points. This weekend, the team and I wanted to forget this disappointment and decided to play the aggressive approach card. It paid off. »

After returning to the top of the discipline, the Eurocup Formula vice-Champion Renault 2.0 looks forward to the rest of the championship with optimism. “ I feel very comfortable in the car and I feel that we have made significant progress in terms of set-up since Silverstone. Now the goal is to not make mistakes and stay focused. The title is at the end of the road. Finally, even if I took part in the GP3 Series championship in Barcelona, and even if I will make another appearance in Valencia, I want to not let myself be distracted. Everything in its time: the number one objective remains the British F1 championship. We're off to a good start, we have to finish the job. »
