Victor Martins crowned Formula Renault champion

Victor Martins is crowned Formula champion Renault Eurocup! A year after missing the title by just seven points, the French driver took his revenge by winning the crown for his third season in the category, even before the last race scheduled for this Sunday morning (10:25 a.m.).

To be titled this Saturday at the end of Race 1, the ART Grand Prix driver had to finish at least 6th or not see his only and last rival Caio Collet (R-Ace GP) win the race. The two conditions were met since he finished 4th behind Lorenzo Colombo (Bhaitech) and behind Collet and Colapinto, authors of two well-felt overtakes on the Habs. Note that this is the third victory in a row on this track for Lorenzo Colombo, already winner of the two races contested in the Var in 2019.

For his part, Hadrien David (MP Motorsport) had an eventful race. Author of a bad start from 5th place, the Renault Sport Academy driver had a nasty collision with David Vidales (JD Motorsport) and finally finished 9th, in the points. Three places better than his compatriot Reshad de Gerus (Arden). In the race for 3rd place in the championship, Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) secured his position thanks to a new podium and is now out of reach of Alex Quinn (Arden, 5th) and David Vidales (7th).
