Wickens, first F2 boss

With eight events and, therefore, sixteen races, the two victories gleaned this weekend by Robert Wickens are already crucial. With his 20 points, he has already taken a good lead in the championship. There is no doubt that his experience of Formula 3 EuroSeries and Formula Renault 3.5 is important to him in these first laps.

Starting on pole in the second race in Valencia, the Canadian did not see his status as leader called into question. With only 17 laps of the circuit, it is true that starting in the lead is an undeniable advantage. As in the first race, the driver of the Red Bull Junior Team was able to show its solidity at the head of the race.

After a good start, Wickens, however, had to resist pressure from his teammate Mirko Bortolotti. But, from the middle of the race, the positions solidified, everyone being satisfied with their position and not wanting to take too many risks. Behind them, Philipp Eng completed the podium, after dropping off Andy Soucek. For his part, Frenchman Julien Jousse only finished in tenth position.

After this second victory, Robert Wickens was obviously very satisfied with his performance: “ It was a good race. Mirko pushed me a lot at the beginning but it's fantastic. I can't believe the season is starting so well after such a weekend. This is the best weekend of my career so far »
