FR Eurocup – Caio Collet opens his counter

Started in pole position, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) had the possibility of erasing his disappointing 10th place the day before at Monza at the opening of the Formulas Renault Eurocup, following a collision with Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport).

After a good start, the Frenchman kept the lead for five laps, before being surprised by Caio Collet (R-Ace GP), at the first turn. Very aggressive since the start of the weekend, the Argentinian Colapinto took advantage of the Brazilian's maneuver to take his turn.

The Ile-de-France driver then managed to pass Colapinto again thanks to late braking on the inside three laps later. He even almost went for victory in the last laps, showing himself insistently in Collet's mirrors on laps 11 and 12.

Before definitively abandoning all hopes of success after having tickled the gravel in the penultimate lap at the exit of the Ascari variant. Winner of his first Eurocup race, Collet leaves Monza with the championship lead, tied with Colapinto.

For its part, Hadrien David (MP Motorsport) once again had a solid race for its debut in the Eurocup. He took a good 6th place, after starting from 12th position. The native of Royan was able to take advantage of the big accident that occurred on the first lap and involved four cars.

Alex Quinn (Arden) indeed seems to have spun, leading to a series of pile-ups with Amaury Cordeel (FA Racing) and Ugo De Wilde (Arden) which led all three men to retire. David then managed to overtake Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) and William Alatalo (JD Motorsport).
