FR Eurocup – Thunderous debut in race 1 for Vidales

That's what we call a great debut. For its very first official race in car, the Spanish David Vidales (JD Motorsport) won the first race of the Imola meeting this Saturday.

Starting from pole position, the native of Leon achieved a superb takeoff before leaving behind his runner-up of the day, the Brazilian Hi Collett (R-Ace GP). Member of the Renault Sport Academy, Collet took advantage of Franco Colapinto's (MP Motorsport) 6th place to take sole control of the championship after three races.

Started in 3th position, Victor martins, the ART Grand Prix driver, (finally 4th) was surprised when the lights went out by William Alatalo (JD Motorsport).

The Frenchman, relegated to 4th place at the first corner, was never able to regain his position on a track without any heavy braking, and where there was not the slightest overtaking except for the start and errors of each other. Definitely ahead since the start of the weekend in terms of pace, JD Motorsport secures a double on the podium with Alatalo's 3rd place.

Great comeback from Hadrian David

Ultimately, only the appearance of a safety car could add some spice to this frozen race, after Petr Ptacek (R-Ace GP) crashed into the gravel. But immediately, Vidales made up the gap in a few turns after the latter had returned.

It was also under safety car regime that Vidales crossed the finish line, after another accident on the last lap by Paul Aron.

Note the beautiful rise ofHadrian David (MP Motorsport). Starting 16th due in particular to a front wing problem in qualifying, the driver from Royan finished in the points, in 9th position.

Having had a good start, he was already in 12th place at the end of the first lap, and took advantage of the retirements of Ptacek and Aron to scrape up a few additional places. The other Frenchman, Reshad de Gerus (Arden), crossed the line in 15th position.
