Guanyu Zhou crowned F3 Asia champion

With the retirement of Pierre-Louis Chovet and his second place in Race 2, Guanyu-Zhou had regained the championship lead by a small point before this third and final race of the weekend. The equation was therefore simple for him: he absolutely had to finish in front of Pierre-Louis Chovet to be crowned.

The mission was far from infeasible for the pilot of Formula 2, since he started from pole while his French rival started in the peloton, in 6th position. Unlike the first two rounds of the weekend, the Chinese managed to maintain his leading position at the first corner to secure his first victory of the weekend and his third of the winter.

A sufficient success to ensure the title and the eighteen superlicense points that go with it, which now allows it to count thirty-nine out of the forty required to access the F1. For his part, Pierre-Louis Chovet was unable to do anything in Race 3. The Pinnacle driver quickly gained a position on David Vidales (Abu Dhabi Racing Team), before coming up against Roman Stanek (Hitech).

Despite the disappointment of not having gleaned his first title in car, the Frenchman revealed himself this winter by finishing vice-champion ahead of Formula 2 drivers such as Jehan Daruvala and Roy Nissany. A good thing for confidence, which will definitely help him in the FIA F3 this year with Jenzer Motorsport.
