Hartley celebrates his first success

Brendon Hartley We were going through difficult times in this second half of the season. Often absent from debates F3 Euro Series, the New Zealander was no more comfortable in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. Test pilot Red Bull F1 at the start of the season, the 2007 FR 2.0 Eurocup champion was stripped of his role by Jaime Alguersuari, before the Spaniard made his debut in Formula 1 in Toro Rosso. Therefore, his first victory in the F3 Euro Series must give him comfort.

Starting from pole position, Brendon Hartley was able to maintain the lead throughout the race, not letting himself be disturbed by the accidents which caused the safety car to come out twice. Each time, Hartley was able to maintain his advantage at the restart, despite the pressure exerted by the British Alexander Sims and Sam Bird, who were racing at home, on the Brands Hatch circuit.

« I simply won because I ran a faultless race, declared Brendon Hartley at the foot of the podium. I am very happy to win this race, my first in the Formula 3 Euro Series. I am also very happy for Carlin, my team, who have worked a lot over the past two years to get here », and for which it is also the first victory in the discipline.

As for the French, the weekend spent across the Channel was not satisfactory, especially for Jules Bianchi. During this race, the Niçois had to stop on the sixth lap, concluding a weekend without points. A first for Bianchi since the start of the season. However, he remains sixteen points ahead of Christian Vietoris in the general classification, with three rounds and six races remaining.

Adrien Tambay, who missed the Oschersleben and Nürburgring rounds, was able to be competitive for this restart weekend. Unfortunately, the young Frenchman had to throw in the towel in the second race, after clashing with Cesar Ramos and Jake Rosenweig. As for Jean-Karl Vernay, he managed to obtain a good eighth place but did not allow him to score any points. The F3 Euro Series drivers meet in two weeks in Barcelona.
