Jousse offers his first victory

Jousse, at the start, took off perfectly and set the best lap in the race on the first lap, confirming the good intentions displayed at the end of the morning. Unfortunately, the Frenchman could not take advantage of his speed to escape, the start of the race having sent several cars into error. That of De Marco, stuck in a chicane, forced the safety car to return to the track. Julien Jousse follows the movement, keeps his tires warm and anticipates the restart perfectly. At the end of the straight, the Frenchman took a clear lead.

Behind Jousse, Bortolotti attacks Vasiliauskas for second place but the driver Red Bull is too short. He has to wait and, as the laps pass, it is the Lithuanian who is the fastest and takes his distance. Bortolotti must face the extreme desire of Soucek, fourth, to get on the podium for the second time of the day. The Spaniard is so motivated that on the 22nd lap, he forgot to take a chicane, crossing grass and gravel without damage. During the following laps, his risk-taking did not diminish, despite the fact that his exit from the track almost cost him dearly.

During this time, Julien Jousse had time to escape. Engrossed in the search for the perfect time, not having to watch opponents in the rearview mirror, the reigning vice-champion of FR 3.5 Series aligns the reference times and improves, lap after lap, the best time. At the end of the 25 laps of Donington Park, the Frenchman was able to raise his fist, finishing more than fifteen seconds ahead of Vasiliauskas.

Often well placed this season, Julien Jousse had not yet won a race. This is now done, and the Frenchman does not intend to stop there, as shown by his extreme satisfaction when getting on the podium. “ I am very happy to win this race after taking pole. I needed to score points to get back into the rankings, and it's done. This weekend I was very fast, and very confident behind the wheel of the car. I hope to continue like this. This is the first victory and, I hope, not the last. »

Indisputable during this race, as he widened the gap on his pursuers, Julien Jousse confirms that the Donington Park circuit suits him perfectly. “ This is where I achieved my first podium in the World Series by Renault, two years ago (second in race 1 in FR 3.5 Series, editor's note), it's a circuit that I appreciate and which works for me! » With the ten points for victory, adding to the two points gleaned in the first race, at the end of the morning, Julien Jousse returned to third place in the standings. Formula 2, two points behind Robert Wickens? but 24 lengths from Andy Soucek. With three rounds on the program and six races to go, anything is still possible but the Spaniard is on track to finish in the lead. Unless Julien Jousse's victory gives him new motivation.
