Jules Bianchi remains in charge

The driver of the French ART Grand Prix team started the race with an advantage. Of the leading trio on the grid, he was the most experienced, the only “non-rookie”. This is how he was able, on the seventh lap, to take the measure of Alexander Sims, valiant pole-sitter the day before on a wet track. The rain once again played havoc during the race, causing the red flag to come out. The positions become frozen and the Frenchman's victory is consolidated due to these adventures. It must be said that this “race of chaos” began with an accident on the first lap, forcing five drivers to retire and the safety car to come out. This is how Bianchi was able to take the lead of the race, at the restart, by getting the better of Sims.

After 32 minutes of racing, Jules Bianchi won on the Norisring, ahead of pole sitter, Alexander Sims, who put in a great performance, even if he narrowly missed the feat. Already leader in the general classification, the Frenchman consolidates his position and strengthens his lead over his pursuers: Merhi (5th in the race), Bird (8th), Vernay (7th) and Vietoris (6th). Big disappointment for Frenchman Adrien Tambay. Starting third, the rookie was penalized with a pit stop for having anticipated the start. He finished 19th, far from the ambitions born after the qualifying session.

At the end of the race, Jules Bianchi was satisfied with his victory: “ I didn't get a good start, but I recovered well after the safety car phase. I then tried to get ahead of my pursuers, which worked quite well. My car was running well and I'm still first in the standings in Formula 3 Euro Series, so everything is good. »
