The F3 will remain in support of the DTM

La F3 will change face in 2019 since the discipline will replace the GP3 Series. The F3 European Championship will thus lose its privileged status in the pyramid of car, but the organizers of the series, Formel 3 Vermarktungs, do not intend to give up their events.

Walter Mertes, CEO of F3V, made it known that he not only intended to continue a series with the currently used F3 chassis which are still homologated for one year after being launched in 2012. The calendar would remain made up of around ten rounds, each event offering nearly 4 hours of driving spread over three races, evolving on the sidelines of the meetings of the DTM.

“In recent years, our championship has become one of the most renowned in the junior series in Europe, commented Welter Mertes. The particularly professional DTM platform allows drivers to develop in many aspects, whether on or off the track. By competing at renowned circuits, they can show off their skills and be seen taking the next steps. »

In order to ensure a full grid, the organizers will release certain rules previously imposed by the FIA. F3V will notably put aside the age limit of 25 years, the maximum number of seasons for a driver or the fact that a champion can no longer participate in the championship.
